RE: D H Baldwin with heavy action

It's been my experience with the Samick made pianos, that there have been
some tight hammer flange centers, and on one, tight damper underlever
flange centers. In each case, repinning was the only repair and the
factory (one K&C Samick, and two D H Baldwins) paid for each. Another
place that has been common for me is the position of the jack under the
knuckle. From the factory, these are usually too far under creating too
much drag starting as soon as the jack fly touches the let off button.
Once I position the jack properly under the knuckle, I puff some teflon
powder on the knuckles to facilitate a really slick feel to the keys as
they are played. Most people complaining of a heavy action like the
slicker feel that this creates. It is not the practice for every customer.
The other techs that have posted on this subject have covered everything
else I could think of.
