Hi Lance, yes, this is a good way to re-attach hammers, in fact we have a member in our chapter that installs NEW hammers with CA glue. Puts a set on in no time flat. I think that he has had sets on for 3 years now with NO problem! Also you can use CA to reinforce glue joints that have NOT broken. Works well. Now to the verdigris problem. This was discussed a couple of weeks ago. I tried ether on the flanges that were all gooed up and to my surprise it freed them all almost instantainously!! Ether is a great solvent but we seem to forget about that aspect due to all the other uses it has. But you MUST do this OUTSIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!! I just took the action outside put a wand in the spray can and kept spraying till the can ran out. It took about 2 or 3 minutes. Waited 1 minute till it flashed off, and put it back in the piano. No more slow or stuck flanges!! Its been about 2 weeks now and I just called the customer last nite. Its STILL playing very fast for her and she is happy at least for now.But one thing,--- when it washes the gook out of the flange the green stuff runs down onto the wood and turns it green so use some paper towels if you do it Theodore Mamel RPT Pittsburgh Chapter
