Approximate tensions?

Tension in pounds for steel music  wire is given by the formula:  T =
(d*50.65)^2*(F*L*.00095)^2 where d is diameter in inches, and B is % of
breaking strength, F is the frequency in Hz, and L is the speaking length
in inches.  Breaking strength is typically between 30 and 66%.  Typical
tensions at A440 are: monochords--200-290 lb.., bichords--160-235 lb..,
trichords--140-200 lb..  Choose your numbers and do the math to get tension
for any set of parameters.
