Thank you, Jim, for your comments to Bob (Moffatt). I have one more: Bob, my SAT scored an overall 98 percent in the recent PTG tuning exam (of course, I had a little bit to do with it by setting the strings to where the SAT told me to put them). (I'll fax my test scores to anyone who wants to see them.) An overall 98 percent electronic tuning score means that the SAT scored 98 percent of what 3-4 master tuners thought was the best aural tuning for that particular piano. Bob, I think you may be missing the point regarding the foot switch posts. I have found these posts to be very useful to me, and I plan to make some mods to my foot switch right away (thanks everyone for the ideas!). If you tune strictly aurally, good for you. But that doesn't make you any better of a tuner than me or everyone else who uses a competent tuning TOOL. The recent Journal has some excellent discussion on all of this (and by the way, I think Steve Brady has created one of the best issues yet with the recent issue of the PTG Journal). Warmest Regards, John Piesik, RPT Piesik's Piano Service Carlsbad, CA JPIESIK@ARINC.COM A novice is a novice whether he tunes by ear or uses equipment. When are we going to stop the WAR? I've seen plenty of novices on both sides of this war. I've also seen plenty or experts on boths sides. Let's give it a rest. OR would you care to take up my challenge for a Tuneoff? The next scheduled Tuneoff is at Orlando, Florida at the Convention this summer. Virgil Smith and I will go at it again. This time we will have 2 pianos apiece and plenty of expert judges.
