Actually, if one person were to be given credit(?) for the development of
three dot journalism, it would have to be Walter Winchell.  He would also
have to be in the running for the inventor of the sound bite, as well.
Herb is a great three-dotter, but he learned from the master.

The editor of the New York Tribune, to whom you refer, would have been
genetically incapable of writing anything so concise as three dot.  On the
other hand, he owned the store, so he did what he pleased.

Perhaps we otta dotter on outta here.
