Try library or conservation supply for parchment, although unless you are
looking for .010 to .020 thickness you probably want leather. Calfskin is
not to stretchy and can be sanded or skived to thickness. The slot, after
steaming, needs to be well cleaned of all glue and you have to remember
that the moment you get glue on parchment or leather it becomes soft and
flexible and hard to insert. You do not want to leave any glue residue on
the exposed material and you also do not want to weaken it by excessive
scraping. Be careful and clean. Now all you have to do is hang a set of
square hammers. Good luck.
