Hi Jerry: In the factories they pull the pitch up not just a half step at a time, but all at once from zero to above pitch during the chip tuning procedure. I've never heard of a Bass bridge pulling loose from that sudden change. The problem in the field is that the bridge has dried out and the glue is dammaged. That is what needs to be fixed... probably along with many other things. Jim Coleman, Sr. PS When one cuts off a bulldogs tail, do they do it one inch at a time so it won't hurt the dog so much? Pitch raising is more effective and less painful if you do it all at once. Whatever else happens is not the fault of the procedure. It may only reveal other faults.
