uses for old ivorite keys;
1. Action model beginning point.
2. Source of cheap set of very good backchecks/wires for those jobs that can
use the same size. (Have yet to see a set that was worn to any extent.)
3. Source of multi sized key leads. (always useful if you do a lot of fine
work)
4. Source of a very nice set of capstans. ( use to replace that nasty set on
that .............. piano.)
5. Source of good set, usually, of key buttons -pre bushed. (depends on size
needed.)
6. For our colleagues with fireplaces, some excellent kindling. (be sure and
remove the keytop first!)
7. Nice set of mortises for key bushing practice/experimentation. (beginning,
intermediate and advanced)
8. Great source of practice material for sanding, buffing, and polishing
 keytops.
(try out all those techniques that you think of when you are doing a set that
you don't want to take the chance of ruining one key of)
9. Carry one or two with you to help sell those key bushing jobs without
removing the action stack to show the customer what you are talking about.
(along with front rail and balance rail pins for demonstartion purposes)
10. Last price of lead on the salvage market was 1.10 a lb.?, let the kids
get the weights to sell so they can buy that................ (make them do
the work though)
