Key and damper Leads

One case of key leads swelling and rubbing adjacent keys. As a quick
fix I filed them down, took less than an hour. DO NOT BREATH in the
dust, or you will end up like old house painters, (if you do this
every day). The customer was advised this was only temporary, but
the piano was needed worse than the wait for new key leads so agreed
to the procedure. Today I would have painted them with shellac after
trimming them down. But that is just on a hunch. BTW, I don't
remember being called to put in new key leads so maybe it was more
than temporary.
