If you did indeed use Garfield's, you'll probably find that it needs more time than merely overnight in order to take; also, that it might take more than a single application. Lastly, a different approach would be to apply the Garfield's however many times are necessary, giving it adequate time between applications, and THEN set the pins deeper into the block AFTER it's had a chance to "do its thing".
