Hi Edward: Before you do any voicing, it might be good to first determine if the problem is with the hammer or not. No amount of voicing will fix a soundboard, rib, or string problem. I would suggest first that you switch a couple of hammer-shank-flange assemblies. This will tell you immediately if the problem was not in the hammer. Could you describe the sound to us a little better if indeed the problem is in the hammer? Is the tone dull, thumpy, twangy, short duration, bright sound develops too quickly, etc.?
