For what it is worth, when it comes to steaming hammers, the byword
should be "Caution". Not a week ago, I got a call from a competent tech
who related success with steaming hammers on several brands. Upon
using it in a new YAMAHA grand, the hammers absorbed so much
moisture, they began puling away from the mouldings, and the hammers
were ruined. Obviously, this was not considered a warranty issue, and
no amount of money will repair this technician's reputation in the eyes of
his customer...er..ex-customer. I have no personal experience using
steam, but if I was cautious about it in the past, I am absolutely opposed
now. Besides, wouldn't you want to hear the final results of your voicing
sooner than the time it would take to dry out a set of hammers?
Please...be careful. Don't get steamed!
