Hi Howard, NiMH batteries do not have the memory effect of NiCads, run for about 30% longer on each charge and are made from nontoxic metals - so are more environmentally safe. However, besides the price difference they last nearly half as long as NiCads (~400 charge-discharge cycles vs.. ~700 for NiCad). Seems the next step after NiMH is Lithium Ion. LiON deliver about twice the run time as NiMH per charge, no memory and about the same life span. As you might expect though, are very expensive and limited in availability. I have had slim NiMH in my cell phone for the past year and I love it - very fast charge, light and convenient. However, after only a year is showing signs of tiring out. Not looking forward to spending the $100 to replace it. Mark Story, RPT Spokane, WA mark.story@worldnet.att.net -----Original Message----- From: Howard S.
