Here's one for the Detectives in the group.... Today I tuned a piano with no plate name or any other identifiing marks. Someone had refinished it in the past 20 years and had removed whatever fallboard decal there was and had re installed the name ' GIBBONS" Ser # 3568. >From the style, late victorian, and the design, ornate and massive, I'd be guessing at turn of the century. There are no markings on the action, though it has 5 overdampers on the low end of the tenor section, similar to S&S uprights. cabinet is 'solid' mahogany, NO veneer!!
