I've never heard of a product called French Polish. I have heard of a
procedure, however. It only works on shellac finishes. You take a cotton
ball soaked in denatured alcohol. You wrap some other type (I forget which)
of cloth over that and you carefully stroke the finish LIGHTLY. The alcohol
partially dissolves the shellac and if you do it right, it is supposed to
look like new shellac. I looked into in for the 1929 Vogue I am rebuilding
but I don't believe it is finished in shellac.

BTW, how could I test for shellac, just in case it is??

Glenn.
