I hope you fellows don't mean that responding to market pressure means the same thing that it meant to Aeolian-American. They moved their manufacturing of verticals from East Rochester to Memphis to get lower costs. The Steck "N" became the Steck "O" and Chickering became a cheap spinet as well as a cheap case on the vertical. The Mason & Hamlins became just another piano and the Knabes, well on and on. I feel the industry must lead, not follow. There is plenty room for the makers to educate the consumers , not go along with thinking that everyone wants cheapness. When I recommend Yamaha, Kawai, Baldwin, Walters, etc, I don't mention price but I do mention that they should" buy their last piano first".
