Yes, some time ago I installed a 117mhz PowerPC Newer Tech upgrade in a
PowerBook 520 for an RCT user. RCT ran at a very nice speed on this
machine. The only reason I don't mention the 520 much is that is a little
bulky compared to say the 280, 2300 or even the 5300. The 520 would be
about the same price as a 2300 or 5300 when upgraded, but screen is
passive matrix.
The current upgrade for the 520 is a 167mhz daughercard made by Newer
Tecnology. This is an upgrade which a service tech should install, don't
try this at home unless you are very experienced.
If you already have a 520/520c then this upgrade is a pretty good deal. I
know of at least 2 RCT users with an upgraded 520. Without a cpu upgrade
the 50mhz cpu on the 520 is IMO too slow for RCT.
