Fishing line can be used as cord for these flanges. Once I was caught with no cord at all. I happen to remember my dental floss in the my truck. It worked fine. I've used it several times since.

Dear List:
Anyone out there have any "quick and easy" methods of replacing
the cord that is found on compact Kimball hammer butt flanges? It
certainly isn't silk. More like a linen cord that a cobbler might use.
