Karen, For the final rub, I use white Scotch pads available from autobody supply stores. Cut a peice to fit a rubber sanding block and use long strokes with the grain making sure to lift off the surface when you get to the edge. Steel wool will sometimes wrap around itself and the fine scratch lines will appear curved and not straight. Hope this helps.
