The SAT is a computer. ALL computers put out radio frequency
electromagnetic fields, and yes your radio will pick it up. The
computer uses a clock which runs at a frequency in the range of millions
of cycles per second (megahertz). Your computer may contain other
radio frequencies as well. This radio frequency "hash" is what you hear
in your radio. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regulates
the radio energy spectrum, and computer manufacturers have to limit the
output of this radio energy to satisfy the FCC regulations. The SAT
computer also puts out this radio frequency "hash", and that's what
you're hearing.
Be careful, though. If your radio smokes, don't inhale. Hash is
illegal in most states.
