<< This is also a rather unusual example, an artist who explicitly states that he "wants all his chords to sound the same". Most performers, I submit, still believe in the concept of "key color". They want it, they expect it but are also admittedly confused about the issue of temperament. There can never be a "one size fits all". >> Ed & Bill, Having tuned for Ronnie a couple of times, as I'm sure ya'll have, I found him to be very discriminating, regarding beats in unisons, fourths and fifths. Don't ask me how I know! I was told by his road manager that Ronnie had some training in piano tuning early on. Anyhow, I personally feel if you can tune for Mr. Millsap and make him happy, you have done well. Or should I say done equal? Dale Probst Registered Piano Technician Ward & Probst, Inc.
