pitch lowering and strip muting

Barrie,

I've always started at note 88 and strip-muted down to the bass, because
I am right-handed and can control how much mute goes between the strings
by holding back-tension with my left as I push the felt between the
strings with the right. When you get to the tenor break on uprights you
can form the final loop of the treble by pushing the felt into place
under the action standard from the tenor section and the first string of
the tenor by pushing from the treble section while holding the damper
back with your left index finger. (Different strokes)

My unsolicited 2 cents.
