With me, it's not so much a noise problem but they _do_try to be quite and keep walking quietly by while tuning. Little do they know the disturbance they are causing the the sound waves. Two worst sounds to hear while tuning: running water, rustling newspaper. A vacuum isn't so bad, once I was glad to have the vacuum start in an Inn's dining room, because it overpowered the exhaust fans in the ventilation system that were driving me crazy and I finally had something I could ignore (somewhat).
