Nice post, David. I am glad that I tuned strictly by ear for over 20 years. I still can tune just as well by ear, the SAT just helps with time and stress, more than anything else. Itis true that as the ETD's developed, so did a deeper understanding of aural tuning. That is why some really great tuners like Franz Mohr and Virgil Smith cannot explain things in these terms. They did not learn them that way. However, very few people would learn to tune as well as they do without knowing the newer aural techniques. I don't think I could. Bill Bremmer RPT Madison,Wisconsin
