I know he is (was) a great concert pianist but I've heard that he suffers
some diseases at the fingers, so he had to stop playing during performances.

In the coming month he will be touring the country. One of the places he will
be playing is Philadelphia I think. He performed a month or so ago, for a
whole week in Fort Worth, where he collapsed at the end of the last recital.
He was back in business the day after the incident. The reason of the
collapse was apparently too much stress, and lack of sleep.

The pianist that I know of, who suffers some type of disease on his right hand
is Leon Fleischer. He played for decades the most difficult music with his
left hand only. He instructs piano at the Peabody Conservatory. He is
apparently gaining back his strength in his right hand. He is now performing
again, playing with both hands, the music he got used to playing with one
hand. He performed with the Baltimore Symphony and played solo in Carnegie
Hall In New York, etc.
