Brass Rail Conversion

In contemplating a brass rail conversion job on a turn-of-the-century
Kimball upright, the thought occurred to me: why not use Billings
flanges? Since wooden flanges require a different type of hammer butt
and, therefore, all the work needed to change the butts, this could be a
big time/cost saver.

Has anyone tried this idea or can think of any pitfalls?
