Also, did you realize that on pianos which are not destined for/or not worthy of inertial weight balancing, that; by changing the FW by the deviation to desired BW, a uniform TW (touchweight) can be derived. ie: 38fw/31bw to 43fw=36bw,(+5) or 38f/40b to 34f=36b (-4) Of course SW, friction and leverage have to be delt with prior to this. But this could be done as an alternative to assist springs, considering of course the amount of lead already in the front of the keys. And by the same token, by graduating the FW without the assistance of wippen springs would make the BW irregular. Jon
