Early in my career, I was asked to tune an antique piano which was about
a major sixth low. Everything looked intact so I proceeded with the
pitch raise and noticed after the first pass that the pitch had fallen
dramatically. I looked the piano over again and discovered that the
exposed pinblock had bowed out about an inch in the middle. Yikes!
