Sidebar: I need to start calling those pitch raises "pitch changes".

I also realized, Jere, you were probably asking with regards to final
tuning passes and not pitch changes.  I'm not certain there is a best way
to go other than to at least verify the temperament, octaves, and unisons
agree with your current understanding of how the piano should sound.

Nuances abound in this profession.
