et al; As promised I am sending a reply from one of the makers of NCDs to the list as received. I can't make up my mind what 'was' and 'was not' said in their reply, but they were prompt and courteous which puts them ahead of everyone else :-) I have taken them up on their offer for printed materials and will share those with the group as received. My question is whether, in the frequency range that these devices operate, they offer any hearing protection that would be benifical as opposed to a hearing protection device or as being better than the naked ear. Thanks in advance for your response. Jim Bryant JIMRPT@AOL.COM ----THEIR RESPONSE----------- Dear Jim: Thank you for your interest in our technology. I am not certain I understand your question, however, the NoiseBuster is designed to reduce consistent, low frequency noise. Many people that travel, find that they are more relaxed, and have less stress, and fatigue during travel when wearing our headsets. So yes these are better than the naked ear in that situation. In comparing Active Noise Reduction to passive, you need to understand that high frequency waves are short and have many cycles in one second. Passive foam products (traditional hearing protection), will reduce high frequency noises, but not low. Low frequency noises can be as long as 6' and will pass right through passive products. There are railroad engineers that have worn passive protection all their life, and still have hearing damage! Our headsets are the first headsets on the market to provide an electronic solution to low frequency noise! For more information on our headsets, please send us your snail mail address. Sincerely, NCT
