Susan, I'm a little dismayed at the recent outbursts against Bill Bremmer. I enjoyed reading them, especially Les Smith's, but can't help but notice how Bill fields criticisms with such alacrity. In your very well-written post, for example, you expected him to be reasonable and take responsibility for his abusive behavior but, unfortunately, Bill is incapable of introspection. He can only project his character defects onto others and thus your attempts at rubbing his nose in his foul deeds are bound to fail. He is immune to your scolding. There is _no possibility_ that he's wrong. He is _right_. To restate my point in a recent post to the list, the only option we have is to completely ignore this person. The fatal flaw in my line of thinking, alas, is that people naturally react in some way to another's misbehavior, that we have to punish that person for breaking the rules of civility. I don't imagine that the entire list will be able to rise above reactive behavior but if we could just feign a good shun... Nah. He'll be back. Sigh. Tom -- Thomas A. Cole RPT Santa Cruz, CA
