where do the broken needles go?

Greetings, 
 I don't pull an action out unless I have  the white cotton sheet on the floor
under the front of the piano.  After scattering pieces of needles in the
action while voicing, I carefully pull the action out, and without ever
getting it off the sheet, turn it sideways both ways.  The broken off pieces
fall out and are easily visible.
