In defense of TAR (Was S&S retrofit rails ?)

The S&S flange should not touch the center part of the rail.  THis acts
as a spring so the parts won't move when the screw becomes a little bit
loose.  Or was this mentioned as some point.  I have grown bored with
this thread since there is no way we can convince S&S to change their
wayward ways.
