    Not being an engineer, I think I meant to say effect rather than
leverage. The ammount the hammer butt would move or be pulled by the bridle
strap is greater when the strap is attached to the butt, even though the
leverage is greater when attached to the catcher. 
    I was impressed by Mr. Ellis' article, and I am not capable of
determining whether his methods were flawed or not. It did seem to make
sense to me, and I have noticed repetition problems on notes and then found
out that those particular notes have broken straps.
