 Hi All,
Today I looked at a bad bass bridge. The upper 1/3 of the bridge pins have
split the wood and opened the wood. What is the better repair Fiberglas or
 epoxy?
 Thanks

I have had good success with Devlon plastic steel epoxy. After removing the
strings and bridge pins from the decayed area, scrap out loose particles. Use
a hammer shank flattened on one end, and dab in the epoxy. Insert the bridge
pins by feel. There should be enough of a hole left. Scrap off excess epoxy.
Leave and go tune a couple of pianos. Upon returning the epoxy is still soft
enough to trim around the bridge pins. Let cure for 24 hours, put bass
strings back on, tune several times, and you have a repaired bridge. I have
done several this way and have yet to see a bridge split after doing the
repair.

Hope this helps.
