Tuning the bass was difficult for me to learn as well. There are a
number of useable guides that will get you to where you want to be.

First, descending into the bass for the middle it is good to use fifths,
get them as pure as you can then check using the minor third inverted
into the major sixth.

Tuning E3 to E4 play the E3 B3 fifth then
Check E3 G3 minor third and G3 E4 sixth. The minor third should be
slower.

You can use this all the way down to the end.

Useful also are descending sixths, thirds and tenths. If an error
occurs a variation in the beat rates will point it out. There will
always be variations in beats, but a major error will show like a sore
thumb.

There are other test and checks, but for the beginning tuner these are
the most useful.

If you get the use of a SAT with FAC you can use it to tune to the SAT
then analyze the bass using the above will help you lock in the beats.

Try this and then write back to me.
