Dear List, I don't know much about hay/piano equivalents -- but my dad grew up in Montana (Anaconda, a gritty smelter town). He tells me that The Piano Tuner came once a year, all the way from Salt Lake City on the train. The visit contained two extremely ceremonial aspects, the pre-tuning, never-to-be-hurried cup of tea, and the post-tuning needling of the hammers. My dad still believes that at each visit I should be offered a cup of tea. Dorrie Bell Associate Member, PTG
