Wally, how are things in Norfolk?  Don't sweat this database thing. 
Approach is very easy and I'm told that Fox Pro is also easy.  

Just decide what you want to keep track of.  You may not need a
relational database. I have a relational database, but I'm not using the
relational capability.

Go to a computer store and buy a book on either of these programs. 
These days, programs are so easy to use. Tuning is much harder!!!!!
