Chickering by Baldwin

Hi Ed,
Yes it is all Baldwin, action made in Mexico. The scale is not old
in the 410, but is an exceptionally designed scale for a 4'10" piano. The
designer considers it one of his master pieces, and I would agree. The
original design was penny pinched and as a result some re-engineering was
done. I had some involvement in the addition of an extra brace and plate
nose bolt to over come some tortional instability problems. A fixed
stretcher was also added to obtain greater case/tuning stability.
Do not confuse scale design with a mess up in execution. Baldwin is an
honorable company, if Kent Webb is contacted I'm sure a satisfactory
resolution can be found.
When you mention Asian companys I'm sure you mean Japanese, as I have found
some real horror stories in Korean and Chinese pianos, with very little
technical support.
Regards Roger
