Just make certain your tuning lever tip is seated on the tuning pin close
to the coil and tune away.  If something is going to break, it's going to
break.  Not very scientific on my part though.

I don't see that as being beneficial at all in this particular situation.
To me it only provides more opportunity for something to fail, maybe the
very thing you are hoping to prevent from happening.
