I recently rebuilt a piano with the exact same brace connecting the long strut on the left side to the staight side of the case. It looked to me like a factory addition at the time of manufacture, but who knows for sure. At any rate, the piano was a Christman. You will notice in the Pierce Atlas that they also made Lockhart, Schuler, and Worthington - all illustrious names in the history of the piano. The Christman was mediocre at best, but was a lovely cabinet and a family heirloom for the customer. Check the numbers in Pierce to see if they match up.. Mark Potter bases-loaded@juno.com
