Greetings, Yes, Carbon steel has the unique ability to go through unlimited cycles of stress, as long as they are not beyond its elastic limits, (think valve springs in a million mile truck motor). The strings in this piano have been hit hard enough, long enough, to use up all "nine lives". Now your job is to sell a restringing! Good luck, Ed Foote
