There is a deep(er) throated pipe clamp that is perfectly suited to soundboard gluing. The throat is only 3" or so, but is perfectly useful. I use about half of these type clamp and half "F" clamps. The throat of the "F" clamps that I have are really overkill for soundboard gluing and are sometimes a pain to keep in place. The advantage of the pipe-type clamps is that you can carry different length pipes for different jobs and you can turn the jaws around to apply a separating force as well. Mark Story. Yo, and like that. While pipe clamps are pretty good squeezers of things thin, or edges of things thick, they don't have the throat depth for reaching over the outer rim installing soundboards. Like Father Jim said, that done be a whole 'nother world. What you need for the fabled "Soundboard Installation Experience" is "F" clamps
