Hi there, Last weekend was very interesting and informative for me, as a proponent of ETs (including, but not necessarily 12tET) to be visited by a scholar of Just Intonation. While our valuations of certain tuning systems (he is not at all fond of the 12-tone subset of 1/4scMT, for instance), and our techniques of exploiting these musically are quite different finally I think we both have drawn the same conclusions: the qualities of any explicit tuning scheme likewise are explicit. Using one in place of another at best obscures intended effects. An interesting parallel. I've read papers on Bach's arpeggiated quadruple stops for violins. It is impossible to bow all four strings at once - _unless_, of course, one uses a period, finger-tensioned bow, usually which is unknown to the authors. Regards, Clark
