As a service to it's owner, I'm finding what the market will bear for a
Steinway E 1895 upright that's all worn out, never been rebuilt, no bench.
Cabinet is in fair condition, refinishable. Action rattles like the
computer keyboard when it's played, numerous poor repairs have been done
and the felts are heavily worn. I would expect it needs a total action
replacement, most likely the soundboard as well, and of course, strings and
tuning pins.
Owner wants to consider the possibility of trading up...... sell existing
piano, buy newer used one. To do this, she wants some numbers up front.
Rebuilding is far too expensive, buying a different one is a whole bunch
more economical ..... less $$$$$.
