Hi Richard, You're looking for noise... It may not be this, but I'll throw it out. I've seen a number of pianos where the balance rail punchings were like little rocks! The key would rebound with enough momentum that it would lift the key off of the balance rail punchings and come falling back down upon them... click, click, click... drove one of my customers nuts.
