Bill,

These specs below should let you regulate almost any grand if its parts =
are in reasonably good condition. Pay very close attention to the =
knuckles for roundness, firmness, and as dirt/graphite free as possible. =
Poorly shaped knuckles are a major cause of unstable regulations. Before =
you start, make sure you have some spring, drop, and hammer blow =
(thickness of shank off the rest block will work) on every note. If all =
three are not present, the note will not regulate.

Natural key height will be in the vicinity of 2 1/2"; sharps approx. =
1/2" above naturals.
Hammer blow will be in the vicinity of 1 3/4" to 1 7/8".
Dip will be in the vicinity of 3/8".
Let-off will be around 1/16 in the treble, slightly more in the bass. =
Best is as close to string as possible without blocking and without =
leaving it in potential danger of blocking after you've finished.
Drop will be proportionate to let-off.
Backcheck height should be as high as possible.

Set samples in each section to see which parameters work. Fudge where =
necessary only when you understand why/where you are fudging. :-) Once =
you find the parameters that work, set the remainder to the samples.
