Hi Tom,
            The Yamaha thin's are quite firm to the feel, almost a wax
paper kind of texture, very nice to work with, even when you plit them.

The sander was more likely used on the tails of the keys, after tilting and
spacing, to ensure no rubbing.  In Japan, I did'nt recall seeing any
sanding device on the line.  I watched the leveling and dipping operations
for some time, picking up little rhythm things from the operator's, they
are quick and good.  Poetry in motion.
