Ed Foote originally, I think, posted the idea of using Protek on strings
that didn't render well. The 9' that I service had rendering  problems all
over, not just in the bass. I applied Protek like Ed suggested and, voila,
no more rendering problems. That former tuning bear is now a kitty cat to
tune. :-)
