Dale, I've done quite a bit of touring though not much as a piano tech. I did a number of shows this spring with the artist Ryuichi Sakamoto and will accompany him to Europe this summer and South America this fall. As far as what you need to bring with you? Anything you can possibly plan for and then some. Cases? Try the piano in the case you are planning to use if at all possible! What sort of venues will you be doing? Be prepared to work in some unusual conditions. Temps and RH extremes, noise and lighting factors, unpleasant personalities.... Are you traveling with a "production manager (er, mangler?)" Either they or you must do as much advance work as possible. Be sure you have enough help at the venue when you arrive (and when you load out!), food provided?, time enough to work, etc...
